What you’re probably missing
Hotel points book rooms — not flights
This card is a strong hotel play, but it can't fund the flight side of a trip. A transferable-points card alongside it covers airfare and tops up hotel balances when transfer partners line up.
A $550 fee only makes sense if you work the credits
Premium cards front-load statement credits that lapse if unused. If you're not actively tracking activation deadlines and credit calendars, you may be paying more than you're getting back.
